We are pleased to announce that travel website TripAdvisor has awarded a 2015 Certificate of Excellence to Ardanaiseig. This is the third year in a row that our historic hotel has been the recipient of this award, so we’re sending out a big thank you to our guests for giving us such great reviews.
In celebration of this accolade, here are five things we think give Ardanaiseig its unique charm…
#1 – The Wow factor
From the minute you turn the corner and glimpse Ardanaiseig, you’re in for a series of “wow” moments. Like so many places in the Highlands, Ardanaiseig’s past is rich in history. Our beloved Category B listed house was built in 1834 by William Burn, an architect widely considered to have founded the Scottish Baronial style, and the creator of many of Edinburgh’s spectacular 19th century buildings. You can find out more here.
Not only is Ardanaiseig itself a feast for the eyes, with its grand hallways and opulent antiques, but its surroundings provide a plethora of spectacular views. The rippling waters of Loch Awe lap the shores of our grounds, surrounded by the mountains of the Highlands, including Ben Cruachan and Ben Lui.
#2 – A haven for romance
Whether you’re looking for a weekend away with that special someone, or a grand location for your picture-perfect wedding, we like to think we have made a spectacular home for love right here in the western Highlands. For those looking for some real alone time, our Boat Shed sits right on the shore of Loch Awe, with a breathtaking view of the water and the mountains beyond.
#3 – Peace and quiet
Our remote location, 3.8 miles past the hamlet of Kilchrenan, means that Ardanaiseig is the perfect location to visit if you want to get away from it all. Our peaceful surroundings ooze tranquility and are a wonderful place to come to relax and be taken care of. Those in search of inspiration are sure to find it among the gnarled trees and panoramic Highland views, so bring a notebook, a camera, or your paintbrush and enjoy immersion in stillness.
#4 – Dine in style
With a reputation for culinary excellence, the food in our restaurant is made supremely delicious by our Chef de Cuisine and his team, who love creating menus that make taste buds tingle. From tender fillets and tasty terrines, to herbs and edible flowers from our walled garden, our à la carte menu is three courses of foodie heaven. Click here for a sample dinner menu, and don’t forget to bring your appetite!
#5 – Wildlife watching
We have an abundance of wildlife in the area around Ardanaiseig. Just take a walk in our grounds accompanied by the melodious song of garden birds, and you will feel rejuvenated to the utmost. If you’re lucky, you might spot a red, roe or sika deer bounding through the forests, or perhaps a pine marten or wild cat. Our skies are alive with buzzards and golden eagles, and our trees are home to the likes of red squirrels, great spotted woodpeckers and cuckoos.
We hope we’ve given you a taste of why we love it here; and we’d love to hear what you love about our Ardanaiseig too!
