As you meander through the rooms and corridors of Ardanaiseig Hotel, you will come across a great many characters adorning the walls in painting form. Taking pride of place in the drawing room, we have six paintings of the Greek muses, from the Italian School paintings, each depicting one faculty.
In Greek mythology, the Muses were goddesses of the arts, literature, and science, from which artists and philosophers drew their creative inspiration.
They are represented in paintings as ethereal, divinely beautiful women holding items that show which area they represent.
Our set of six 63in x 21in oil on canvas beauties depict the Muses of painting, music, poetry, geometry, piloting, and astronomy.
We invite you to come have a look for yourself and see if you can tell which is which!
