With summer in full swing and some lovely weather upon us, we have put together five fun activities you can do to enjoy the great outdoors during your stay at Ardanaiseig.
Take a boat out on the loch
At 38.5 square kilometres, Loch Awe is the third largest freshwater loch in Scotland, so there is a lot of it to enjoy. Ardanaiseig provides small boats for guests’ convenience, so why not get out on the water and enjoy a cooling breeze and some beautiful scenery. Loch Awe is also home to a variety of fish, including trout, pike, and arctic char and you can find out more about fishing on the loch here.
Take a walk in the grounds
There are numerous pathways that lie in wait around Ardanaiseig to take you on many an adventure. You can wander around the loch side, explore the walled garden on our garden walk or delve deep into mysterious forests.
Sit outside and enjoy the view
Why not enjoy some afternoon tea outside with a beautiful view of Loch Awe and the surrounding mountains. Whet your appetite with our Afternoon Menu.
Picnic
There are plenty of tranquil spots throughout our grounds, so take your pick for a leisurely picnic. Our chefs in the kitchen can rustle up a handmade picnic lunch especially for you. Choose from a standard lunch or a deluxe package including smoked salmon and caviar, as well as tea, coffee or champagne. Check out a sample menu here.
Swimming
If you are feeling especially adventurous, you could always go for a swim in the loch. The crisp waters will not only cool you down on a hot day, but also prove to be quite invigorating. Visitors have been known to swim out to the crannog and back quite spontaneously, in a fit of sudden competition.
