Fishing

FISHING

Fish on Loch Awe with the help of an expert ‘Ghillie’. Ghillie is a Gaelic word meaning lad or servant and it is his job to help you catch the resident Brown Trout – or even the Ferox Trout – as well as looking after the fish in his locality.
If you’re thinking of coming up to Ardanaiseig for a fishing break, let us know and we can book a Ghillie on your behalf.

Let our trained and knowledgeable bar staff run you through the main whisky regions, with samples from each area.

Aim and release in our walled garden, where our instructor will enable you to learn the basics of archery in all its practice and forms.
Using our recurve bows your instructor will teach, inform and develop your skills.

BOATING

Ardanaiseig has its own fishing boats, which can be used for rowing but also are equipped with a 4HP outboard engine.
Why not rent one of our boats to cut across the loch and visit the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, the ancient burial ground on Inishail Island or one of many other smaller islands.

KAYAK LESSONS

Our top BCU/SCA level 5 sea kayak coach, Kenny, has over 15 years’ experience as a professional in the field of outdoor activities.
Equipped with kayaks, wet suits and anything else you could need, he will take you out for a 4 hour stint exploring Loch Awe.

WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

The grounds at Ardanaiseig are a photographer’s dream; teeming with wild deer, squirrels, birds, fish and plant life. With our photography package you can experience the joy and excitement of wildlife photography, whatever your level of expertise.
You will receive the guidance of an award-winning photographic instructor for one day, the supply of professional equipment and electronic copies of your work to take home.
