Many years ago, the 100 acre
wild woodland gardens of Ardanaiseig were regarded as one of the
natural splendours of Argyll. Now sadly neglected, they are being
restored in a way which will retain their romantic charm and mysterious
atmosphere.
In Victorian times, thousands of exotic
shrubs and trees were imported from many parts of the world - including
the climatically similar foothills of the Himalayas.
There is some venerable timber - including
a fir tree more than 130 feet high and 20 feet in girth. The abundant
diversity of flora is of much interest to naturalists. |
