About Us – Lost Gardens

The Burn

Many years ago, the 100 acre wild woodland gardens of Ardanaiseig were regarded as one of the natural splendours of Argyll. Now sadly neglected, they are being restored in a way which will retain their romantic charm and mysterious atmosphere.

In Victorian times, thousands of exotic shrubs and trees were imported from many parts of the world - including the climatically similar foothills of the Himalayas.

There is some venerable timber - including a fir tree more than 130 feet high and 20 feet in girth. The abundant diversity of flora is of much interest to naturalists.
