Many years ago, the 100 acre wild woodland gardens of Ardanaiseig were regarded as one of the natural splendours of Argyll. Now sadly neglected, they are being restored in a way which will retain their romantic charm and mysterious atmosphere.
In Victorian times, thousands of exotic shrubs and trees were imported from many parts of the world - including the climatically similar foothills of the Himalayas.
There is some venerable timber - including a fir tree more than 130 feet high and 20 feet in girth. The abundant diversity of flora is of much interest to naturalists.
